Homework

Homework is a very important part of school life, setting a climate of independent learning.  We ask that parents support as much as possible, marking children’s work with them and helping them if they are stuck.

Please look carefully at the notes for reading to ensure that this is a purposeful task – reading in Y5 is often seen as time to read independently and this is only part of what we need children to do.

*** If you are having trouble with any of your reading, homework or spellings, please let us know as soon as possible.  We can help if we know but don’t leave it until the last minute!***

Reading:

Please read as often as you can at home, and ask an adult to sign your book at least 3 times a week.

Reading should include –

Maths and English:

There will usually be a piece of maths and English work going home each week.

This may be a sheet or it may be an internet based or research piece of work.

Please make sure you collect your homework on a Friday and write your name on it!

Hand homework in the following Friday unless special instructions are given.

Spelling:

Spelling diaries and booklets will be given out soon.

Please keep the diary safe as it tells you when your spellings will be tested and which sets you should be working on.

Some homework will be set on Google Classroom.

Please encourage your children to show you what they have been doing – and look out for homework tasks or ongoing projects.
